It was produced by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. It was distributed in Switzerland, Spain, and Netherlands by Universal Pictures. It was dedicated in memory of Jules Engel. A sequel called Atlantis Squarepantis was released on November 12, 2007, three years after the release date of this movie.
