Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina, synonym: R. hirta), is a eciduous shrub to small tree in the Anacardiaceae or Cashew family, native to eastern North America It is primarily found in the Northeastern and Midwestern United States, Southern Ontario, and the Appalachian Mountains.
