A Stokes basket, also calle a Stokes stretcher or Stokes litter, is a metal wire or plastic basket, shaped to accommodate an adult in a supine position and used in search and rescue operations. The victim is strapped into the basket, making safe evacuation possible. They are generally used with a back board and a cervical collar, so as to immobilize the victim and prevent further injury.
