The University at Albany, State University of New York, commonly known as the University at Albany, is a highly selective public university locate in the capital of New York State, and is the senior campus of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Founded in 1844, it is an internationally recognized public research institution, which carries out a broad mission of undergraduate and graduate education, research, and service. UAlbany (its officially designated informal title) has three campuses: the Uptown and Downtown campuses in the City of Albany and one campus in the Town of East Greenbush, just east of Albany.
