The State University of New York at Oneonta (also know as O-State, Oneonta State, an SUCO) is a four-year liberal arts college in Oneonta, New York, United States, with approximately 5,800 students. The College offers many bachelor's degrees and a number of graduate degrees. SUNY Oneonta is particularly renowned for its education program (given its traditional context at the college) and more recently its music industry degree. Kiplinger's magazine has named the SUNY College at Oneonta to its 2007 "Kiplinger 100 Best Values in Public Colleges," which was released in the February 2007 issue of the magazine. This marks the first appearance by SUNY-Oneonta in Kiplinger's nationwide rankings of the top 100 public colleges and universities that "combine outstanding value with a first-class education." In August, U.S. News and World Report ranked the College in the top tier in its rankings of "America's Best Colleges 2007." Oneonta has been cited as the safest campus setting in New York State for colleges of 5,000 or more students and the ninth-safest in the country.
