superpipe

A superpipe is a large halfpipe, a structure use in gravity extreme sports such as snowboarding, freestyle skiing, skateboarding, freestyle BMX and inline skating. Superpipes generally have over 16 feet (4.9 m) walls on both sides that are nearly 90 degrees vertical; a standard halfpipe has 11 foot (3.35 m) high walls. Superpipes are wider than they are tall. They are also longer and wider than traditional halfpipes and allow riders to get higher out of the pipe and perform bigger tricks. It takes a special type of groomer to groom a superpipe, while halfpipes can be groomed with a typical snow groomer. Superpipes are becoming the new standard for pipe competitions.
