The City of Tacloban (Waray: Siyuad han Tacloban , Tagalog: Lungsod ng Tacloban , Cebuano: Dakbayan sa Tacloban) is a port city approximately 360 miles southeast of Manila. It is the capital of Philippine province of Leyte. It is the largest city in terms of population and considered as the regional center of the Eastern Visayas or Region VIII. It briefly became the seat of the Philippine Commonwealth Government from October 23, 1944 to February 27, 1945.
