Since the iscovery of the eighth planet Neptune in 1846, there has been considerable speculation that another planet might exist beyond the orbit of Neptune. In the years since then, various discovered objects and hypothesized bodies from the trans-Neptunian region have been identified as the "ninth planet" or "tenth planet'".
