The Tories were one of a series of political factions that existe in the Kingdom of Great Britain and later the United Kingdom, having its roots in the 17th century. The faction was founded during 1678 in the Kingdom of England, when they opposed the Whig supported Exclusion Bill which set out to disinherit the heir apparent and future king to be James, Duke of York.
