The Trevi Fountain (Italian: Fontana i Trevi) is the largest — standing 25.9 meters (85 feet) high and 19.8 meters (65 feet) wide — and most ambitious of the Baroque fountains of Rome. It is located in the rione of Trevi.

  • In 1762, for the first time, visitors could throw coins in this newly completed Roman fountain
  • The restoration of this Roman landmark was finished in 1991; many of the statues had been chipped by coins
  • Tradition says throwing coins into this will insure your return to Rome
  • The original tradition of this Rome fountain was to drink the water then make a wish; today, just toss some coins
