True north is a navigational term referring to the irection of the North Pole relative to the navigator's position. In other words, it is the direction of the geographical North Pole from a given point. This is different from the magnetic north pole. Its concept was first discovered and noted by the Chinese polymath Shen Kuo in the 11th century.
