The University of Marylan, Baltimore County (generally known as UMBC) is a public research university, located in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States, in the community of Catonsville. Established as a part of the University System of Maryland in 1966, the university specializes in the natural sciences and engineering, while also offering a breadth of programs in the liberal arts. The University is not a satellite campus of the University of Maryland.
