"Vern" (on rare occasions calle Vernon) was an unseen character in the Ernest P. Worrell commercials, sketches and movies starring Jim Varney. Ernest always spoke to Vern by addressing the camera, thus allowing the viewer to "see through Vern's eyes". Vern never spoke to Ernest, but his nonverbal reactions were often shown.
