Walle Lake Western High School (also known as “Walled Lake Western”, “Western”, or “WLW”) Walled Lake Consolidated School District, located in Walled Lake, Michigan. Opened in 1969 Walled Lake Western was the second high school in Walled Lake. The schools enrollment is currently listed at 1734. Westerns mascot is the Warrior and the school colors are Royal and Silver (Scarlet was also a school color from 1981 to 2006) Western belongs to the newly formed Kensington Lakes Activities Association. Walled Lake Westerns athletic programs have a long history of success. In 1984 the Warriors baseball team captured the schools first state championship. The Warriors then became know as a football power in southeast Michigan, making three finals appearances in the 90’s (1992, 1996, and 1999). After capturing state titles in 1996 and 1999 the Warriors made a final 4 showing in 2001. As for the other programs at the school the Walled Lake Soccer Team had a Division 1 Recruit Winston Henderson going to Oakland. Walled Lake Western is also home of the 2008 in-line hockey state champions the Road Warriors. The Walled Lake Western Performing Arts Programs, especially the choir and theater programs, are widely known throughout the state and are considered to be very prestigious. Miss America 2008, Kirsten Haglund, who was a four year member of the choir, graduated from Walled Lake Western in 2006.
