Wooen Wand and the Vanishing Voice is the name of a musical collaboration between James Jackson Toth and Jessica Toth (Wooden Wand) and The Vanishing Voice, a Brooklyn band composed of G. Lucas Crane, Heidi Diehl, and Steven Jarvis Tavaniere. The band members met at Purchase College. Their style of music draws on a variety of both conventional and experimental folk and rock influences, including psych folk, acid folk, freak-folk, free folk, and indie. They have also been classified under the relatively new genre of New Weird America, exemplified by a growing group of artists reviving and adapting the legacy of 1960s and '70s folk music.
