yachats

     

Yachats (pronounce "yaw hots") is a small coastal city in Lincoln County, Oregon, United States. According to Oregon Geographic Names, the name comes from the Siletz language, and means "at the foot of the mountain". There is a range of differing etymologies, however. The city straddles the Yachats River. The larger half of the city is on northern side where most of the commercial establishments can be found. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 617.
