I think that this person... cannot catch a break. Recently divorced, he had to move into a trailer when the ex kicked him to curb. It's hard to have the kids over on his weekends in such a small place. Then the trailer flooded, the floors are all warped and he'll have to fix it himself as money is tight. His last drunken binge cost him both his job and his driver's license! His mom has Alzheimer's and is getting worse rapidly. She's balking at the idea of going into a nursing home, but it has come to that. Have you seen the prices of assisted living facilities these days? Outrageous- may have to take out a reverse on the ancestral home. Meanwhile, he's just not feeling himself these days. Maybe it's all the stress, but Mr. Happy sure is flagging lately. Makes the idea of dating nerve-wracking. Maybe a new hairstyle for summer will do the trick...
